Banished Sheikh Malid Adjalane has no interest in returning to the family business under the watchful eye of his controlling father. But if Malid doesn’t agree to take on a tough deal, he won’t be allowed into the palace to see his dying mother. With no other choice, Malid finds himself deep in negotiations with the largest oil producer in the world. He expected hard work, but he never could have prepared himself for the gorgeous, ambitious woman on the other end of this business deal.

Nigella Michaels works hard for her father’s oil company, but she still has a lot to prove. It’s a masculine industry, and with her dad about to retire, this deal could be just what she needs to show him once and for all that she’s the right person to continue his legacy. She’s always worked well with others, and this should be no exception. But not even her meticulous research could have prepared Nigella for the instant attraction she has with Malid.

After so many years on his own, it won’t be easy for Malid to put up with his father’s terms. But with Nigella’s help, perhaps they’ll both learn to balance the weight of their family with their own desires.

The Sheikh Reluctant American The Adjalane Sheikhs Series Book 3 edition by Leslie North Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

This book is about the third son Malid. In the previous book he was banished from his home by his Father because of some decisions he made. His Gather will not allow him to see his dying Mother unless he makes a deal with Opell Oil. Nigella is making the deal for her Fathers company so she can prove to him she is capable of running the company when he retires. Malid and Nigella spend time together looking over the land and they become close. Eventually they come to an agreement on the deal but it has to be approved by their Fathers. When Malid learns his Father met with Nigella he confronts him. That is when he realizes it is not his Mother who is ill. During a health scare with his Father he realizes the mistakes he has made and wants to make things right with everyone. Once the deal has been signed where does that leave him and Nigella? I received an ARC for my honest review.

While I liked this story, I found it to be just okay. Both Malid and Nigella had many things in common but just enough differences to make things somewhat interesting. They both have strong personalities with the drive to succeed. The "hard to please" fathers, who were manipulators, is another thing. I liked the name Nigella and how she got the name made sense too. She did something that not everyone else could do, she kept her business role (of being cool, practical and hardheaded) and her passionate personal life separate. She was picky about who she shared her passion with. But Malid and Nigella did explore that passion. And they each learned something from the other.
There were good descriptions of the food, clothing and the country.
Things were kind of predictable except there is one unexpected twist. There are a few hints about it until it is finally revealed.
I believe I have read other books by this author that I have liked a lot more. I'm going to keep reading books by her, its just that this book felt like it was missing something.

There is an Excerpt of "His Stubborn Lover", Slade Security Book 1, is included at the end of this book.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I did receive this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love Leslie North's books. I also need to say that I did read this book without reading the other two books in the series first and was able to follow along without any problems. Even though the two brothers were brought into this book for a little bit, it was still very easy to go through this book without knowing what happened in the first two, however I do now wish to read the other two books, because this one is FANTASTIC.

I will start with Malid, he is the eldest son to the Adjalane Empire. He has also been banished by dad in order to "teach him a lesson" (in which dad wants him to be more like him even though he really does follow more in dad's footsteps than dad thinks) Being banished and his father tells him his mom is very ill (gravely ill with not much time) and the only way back in to see her is to apologize. Strong willed Malid doesn't feel this is an option. He is called back in to "work" for his father with this Oil company who wants to use their land.

That is where Nigella enters. (It is in the book she explains her name, Daddy wanted a boy named Nigel, daddy always gets what he wants - usually but the baby turned out to be a girl so he compromised on her name.....) She is in line to take over her father's company when he leaves/retires. She is the only child of the Oil company that plans to use the Adjalane desert area to build more to their company, and she is set to prove to her father she is plenty capable of running his company.

Nigella is caught in the desert surveying the land when Malid enters and is not happy that she is there before he is. She is a negotiator through and through and will do anything and everything to prove to her father how good she would do running his company after he leaves. Malid and Nigella work together for a plan, one her dad is none to happy with. While working on this deal they give into their attraction to one another and when a sand storm hits in the desert they get to share a great deal more than a deal.

Getting back to "civilization" they both go their own ways, and Malid's father contacts Nigella and meets with her. He puts an ultimatum to his agreeing to the negotiated contract and that is Nigella is to get Malid to come home and give an apology. She is aware things are not good with Malid and his father, so she calls him and they hatch a plan, it does involve one of the two brothers as well. When they get into the Sheikh's palace they find out it is not Mom who is ill, it is dad. During a meeting with the two kids trying so desperately to please their fathers and the two fathers who are causing tons of stress on the kids, Malid's dad has a heart attack. Things grow from there. But first Nigella FINALLY speaks up for herself and without giving anything else away, there is a fantastic HEA for Malid and Nigella.

I really have to say Leslie North's books are always in my to read list....and this one has once again made it so I have 2 more books added to my reading list. I love her writing and her books.
